Italian ensemble 291out originally composed ‘Ritorno Ad Urania’ for the end credits of a film, but after performing a radically changed version live they were encouraged to release both. In fact, 291out did even better than that, serving up four versions of the track for this new EP. The ‘Main’ mix of ‘Ritorno Ad Urania’ is a psychedelic library-funk strut that befits the group’s cinematic ambition; the ‘Alternate’ take streamlines the funk; the ‘Reprise’ strips out everything bar some dreamy keys and effects, and the ‘Western’ edit lives up to its title with a heat-hazed soundscape fit for Ennio Morricone.
